Clos de l’Abbaye
Birthplace of wine-growing in the Loire Valley, le Clos de l’Abbaye extends over 6.85ha of Cabernet Franc around the Benedictine abbey in Bourgueil. This soil with a density of flint stone, very suitable for vine-growing, is certified ‘Organic Farming’ since 2000. The estate is one single plot, surrounded by walls which provide shelter from cold temperatures, and therefore give it a very specific microclimate. Thanks to the hand picking of the grapes, Michel and Jeremy Lorieux can produce a red wine respectful of this particular terroir, typical of the bourgueil appelation.
